Mountain waterfalls near Oreshak

The Troyan Balkan is one of the most water-rich parts of the Stara Planina range, hiding dozens of waterfalls and crystal pools among ancient beech forests — perfect for a walk, a refreshing dip and photographs.

The most impressive nearby is the Vidimsko Praskalo — one of the highest waterfalls in Bulgaria, with a free fall of nearly 80 metres. It lies within the Severen Dzhendem reserve of the Central Balkan National Park and is reached heading from Oreshak towards Apriltsi. The route suits well-prepared hikers, but the view rewards every step.

For shorter, easier walks there are also more accessible cascades along the Cherni Osam river. We'll gladly point you to a route that fits your group.
