Revival architecture of the Troyan region

Revival architecture of the Troyan region

The Troyan region preserves a rich architectural heritage from the Bulgarian National Revival. Around Oreshak, Troyan and the neighbouring mountain villages you'll find authentic houses with hewn stone, tall timber verandas and the region's characteristic stone roofs.

This architecture is the work of the famous Troyan master builders and wood carvers, whose skills were passed down from generation to generation. A walk through the old lanes feels like a journey back in time — to an age when every detail was crafted by hand.

In nearby Troyan you can also visit the Museum of Crafts, housed in a beautiful Revival-era building that rounds out the picture of local life and traditions.
