Natural History Museum — Cherni Osam

A few kilometres from Oreshak, in the village of Cherni Osam, stands one of the richest natural history museums in Bulgaria.

Founded in the 1950s by a local teacher, the museum holds a large collection of taxidermied animals and birds, insects, minerals and plants from the Central Balkan. The displays recreate the natural habitats of the region and are especially fascinating for children and families.

A visit pairs perfectly with a walk along the Cherni Osam river valley — a great idea for a rainy day or for curious little explorers.
